Hi gang,

Before I submit an issue at the Webmasters queue, I thought I'd get your
feedback.

I just found out today about the existence of
http://drupal.org/project/usage

Wow, what a resource!

I think it should really be advertised a LOT more. I'd propose some mention
of it on the main module page:
http://drupal.org/project/Modules

Other ideas? Do people agree?

[It does have a problem in that, from what I can tell, Drupal 5 sites that
have the "Drupal" module turned off will not phone home. Many people think
that the only thing the Drupal module does is allow registration with user
accounts from other Drupal sites, which a lot of people want turned off. But
even with that limitation the information is extremely valuable, and
especially as D6 gets wider and wider acceptance where this feature is
better handled.]

That's pretty cool! I could see many different ways of using this page.
Right up front (being the newb I am) I'd use it to see what modules are
staying active and not headed out in the future. Maybe? Also I can actually
*find* a module for download. In searching for a module I seem to find all
modules associated with that module long before I can get to the module I
actually I want.

That's the idea of it. It literally just got implemented. It's been
in planning and development off and on for about a year now. I am
finding some of the verbiage on the page a little obscure even for me
but need to sit down and figure out if it's just me or what
alternatives could be added.

HI Gang,

When I wrote the initial email, I didn't realize this had just been
launched.

Thanks Lynette for the link to the current discussion.

Also, I put out some wrong information in my post. I said that for Drupal 5,
the user stats are dependent on the "Drupal" module being turned on. That is
not true. It is dependent on the Drupal 5 install having Update Status
installed as a contrib module.

Thanks @Shai Gluskin for informing about this really interesting node. Thanks
also to all who planned and implemented that View.
I have started to provide some link to it from the nodes that may be related
to.
One link I have provide in the "Common Terminology" page (Common expressions
& acronyms used on D.O. <http://drupal.org/node/302232> )
Kind Regards
